About the event (2026 edition)
The Veiner Nessmoort (Vianden Nut Market) fills the medieval old town of Vianden with walnut-based products every October. Since 1970, producers have offered walnut liqueur, brandy, cakes, cheese, oil and honey along the cobbled streets below the castle. The market is as much a harvest festival as a shopping event: music, demonstrations and guided walks through the walnut groves round out the day. Vianden's castle, perched above the Our valley, provides the backdrop. The market typically runs on a single Sunday in mid-October and draws visitors from Luxembourg, Germany and Belgium.
The Veiner Nëssmoort (Nëssmaart, Nussmarkt, Notenmarkt) is on Sunday 11 October 2026, 10:00 to 19:00, in Vianden old town. It is Vianden's nut market, organised on the second Sunday of October by the Veiner Nëssmoort asbl, a group of local associations and businesses. First held in 1935, it paused during the Second World War and from 1952 to 1969 and has been annual since 1970. Up to 20,000 visitors come for fresh walnuts, nut liqueur and brandy, cakes and pâtés, with DJs and bands in the medieval streets.

RGTR lines 180, 181, 182 and 188 and bus 455 from Bitburg also serve Vianden. The 1A and 1B timetables linked from that page are still the 2025 ones (dated 12 October 2025, uploaded in September 2025), so 2026 departure times are not published there yet: check again before travelling.

The stand map lists about 35 stallholders, among them associations, clubs, cafés, restaurants and shops, and notes that several stands offer vegan products. The market is open from 10:00 to 19:00.
