Six weeks of opening makes this the longest-running Christmas market within easy reach, and the Sentier des Lanternes is the part worth queueing for.
about the event
Metz spreads its Christmas markets over five squares with around 130 chalets. Opening hours are 11:00 to 21:00 Sunday to Thursday and 11:00 to 22:00 Friday and Saturday, while the Place de la Comedie site runs evenings only on weekdays. The Sentier des Lanternes opens on 22 November and also runs to 30 December. Floating sleigh rides are listed as free.
