Started in 1970 and still the biggest cider festival on the Saar, about 45 minutes from Luxembourg City. Go early, parking fills up.
about the event
Merzig turns its old town into a 'Viezmeile' for one Saturday to celebrate Viez, the local apple cider. Three stages, regional bands and stalls run by some 35 local clubs, with the official opening shot fired at 10:30 on the steps of the historic Stadthaus. The town expects around 30,000 visitors; it is a street festival, so you pay per drink and per plate.
