my take
The nearest proper half marathon to Luxembourg, barely half an hour past Schengen. Choosing 15 km or 21 km at the turnaround rather than at sign-up is unusually forgiving on a hot day.

Tenth edition of the Merzig road race, starting and finishing at the Stadthalle. The main race sets off at 10:15 and lets runners pick 15 km or the half marathon at the turnaround; a 5 km run follows at 10:30, with children's races from 09:15. The Saarland half-marathon championships are decided here.
