Where are job offers in Luxembourg published?

At ADEM, the public employment agency, whose JobBoard shows offers to registered jobseekers first; on the EURES portal; on private job sites such as Moovijob and jobs.lu; on employers' own careers pages; and at job fairs. Jobs in the public sector and in the EU institutions have their own sites.

I live in France, Belgium or Germany and lose my job in Luxembourg: where do I register?

If you worked as an employee and went home at least once a week, your unemployment benefits are paid by your country of residence, not by ADEM, so you first register as a jobseeker there: France Travail in France, the Bundesagentur für Arbeit in Germany, and in Belgium Le Forem for French-speaking Wallonia, Actiris for Brussels, VDAB for Flanders or ADG for the German-speaking Community. You can also register with ADEM in addition, to get help finding a job in Luxembourg, and you then meet the obligations of both countries. Other rules apply to partial unemployment, to the self-employed and to people who went home less than once a week.

I live in Luxembourg and lose my job: how do I claim unemployment benefits?

First register as a jobseeker with ADEM, then submit your claim for full unemployment benefits on MyGuichet.lu, no later than 4 weeks after losing your job. For employees, the main conditions are being 16 to 64, living in Luxembourg, having lost your job involuntarily, being fit and available for work, and having worked at least 182 days, at least 16 hours a week, in the previous 12 months.

Can I browse ADEM's JobBoard without an account?

Not on jobboard.adem.lu, which asks you to log in: for the first seven days, offers are visible only to jobseekers registered with ADEM. After that, the offers employers chose to make public are open to everyone on the EURES portal, where you can usually apply directly to the employer.

What is EURES?

A European cooperation network of employment services bringing together the European Commission, the European Labour Authority (ELA) and the national employment services. It runs the European Job Mobility Portal, managed by ELA, which covers the EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.

Where are public-sector and EU jobs in Luxembourg published?

Jobs in Luxembourg's ministries, administrations and public services are on govjobs.public.lu, the recruitment site published by the Ministry of the Civil Service and the CGPO, in French. EU Careers, the site of the European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO), lists competitions and vacancies of the EU institutions, including the Court of Justice in Luxembourg; the Court of Justice and the Court of Auditors also publish vacancies on their own websites. The European Investment Bank, headquartered in Luxembourg, recruits through its own job portal on eib.org.

What are France Travail and Apec?

France Travail is the French public employment service: on 1 January 2024, Pôle emploi became France Travail, under the full employment law of 18 December 2023. Apec, an association run jointly by employers and trade unions, supports executives (cadres) and young graduates from bac+3 (bachelor level), and helps companies recruit executives.
