Running clubs in Luxembourg City

Luxembourg City runs in crews. Whatever your pace, there is a group that leaves the office at the same time as you: weekly social runs, trail packs, marathon long-run squads and one club that has been at it since before running was cool. Running with others keeps you consistent, keeps you safe after dark, and in a city this international it is one of the fastest ways to make friends.

The weekly social runs

  • FatBetty.Runfatbetty.run

The city's original social crew, running since 2017. No pace charts, no egos: a 5 km and a 10 km group, then the café. Free.

Schedule verified on the club's own site.Every Thursday, 18:45 sharp, from the Independent Café (6, boulevard Roosevelt). Be able to hold about 6 min/km.

  • Pace Pals Run ClubInstagram

Runners and hybrid athletes: social runs, track sessions and race-prep blocks, sometimes with a DJ. The week's schedule is on their Instagram.

  • Cool Runnings LuxembourgFacebook

Sunday-morning social runs on routes in and around the city, organised through their Facebook group.

  • Monday-evening runs from the Glacis; a monthly calendar is posted on their Instagram.

  • Mambo Running ClubInstagram

International crew with a Spanish-speaking core, based around the Glacis. Dates on their Instagram.

  • SWEAT & SOCIAL CLUBInstagram

Easy-pace social runs around Limpertsberg, with optional coffee after. Details on their Instagram.

  • Young, energetic crew with a strong student feel.

Trail & long-run specialists

  • Black Cat RunnersInstagram

The trail crew, for the forests and valleys around the city. Their motto: respect nature like you respect yourself.

  • Lux Distance RunnersInstagram

Weekend long runs of 15 km and more, in structured pace groups (roughly 4:30 to 5:45 per km). The marathon-prep crew.

Monthly & lifestyle crews

  • B(run)ch Club LuxembourgInstagram

Sunday runs that end in brunch, plus track sessions and monthly specials. International and unhurried.

  • Lux Social Run ClubInstagram

One relaxed run a month, alternating 5 and 10 km, always ending with food and a drink. Run by local blogger Stefanie (stefinlux).

  • The Day ClubInstagram

A lifestyle community that bridges several crews: runs, music events and brunch meet-ups.

The institution

  • GDH3 (Grand Duchy Hash House Harriers)gdh3.lu

The local chapter of the worldwide Hash House Harriers, self-described as a drinking club with a running problem. Half the challenge is finding the meeting point.

Schedule verified on the club's own site.Monday evenings around 19:00 in summer, Sunday mornings around 11:00 in winter. 3 EUR per run.

Ad-hoc groups also pop up on Meetup ↗.

Got the bug? Race it.

The agenda tracks the races these crews train for: the ING Night Marathon, the Route du Vin half, the Escher Kulturlaf, the region's trails and cyclosportives.

Crew etiquette, in five lines

  • Arrive a few minutes early: groups leave on time and cannot wait.
  • Red lights apply to runners too. Leave room for pedestrians and bikes.
  • Stay behind the pacer and call hazards down the line (« vélo ! », « poteau ! »).
  • Headphones off. The whole point is the people around you.
  • On trails, stick to marked paths and take your litter home.

How to join your first run

  1. Pick a crew whose day and pace fit your life, otherwise you will not come back.
  2. Check their latest post for this week's meeting point and distance.
  3. Arrive five minutes early and introduce yourself. Every crew has a first-timer routine.
  4. Stay for the coffee or the drink. That part is optional, and it is also the point.
