About the event (2026 edition)
The Hunnefeier is Schengen's end-of-harvest festival, a celebration marking the close of the wine-growing season in Luxembourg's Moselle valley. The festival takes place in the village of Schengen and features local wines, a grape harvest procession, live music and seasonal food. Winegrowers from the surrounding area present their new vintages. The event is listed by Visit Luxembourg and Visit Moselle and typically falls on a Sunday in October. Schengen's location at the tripoint of Luxembourg, France and Germany gives the Hunnefeier a cross-border flavour, with visitors arriving from all three countries.
Sunday 18 October 2026, 09:00 to 19:00, along the Moselle in Schengen: over 100 stalls and free shuttle buses for the Hunnefeier, the end-of-harvest festival run by the Syndicat d'initiative Schengen near the European Museum. A rooster once went to the first winegrower to finish the harvest; today a different artist designs each year's limited-edition clay cockerel, the Schengener Hinnchen. The day brings flea and craft stalls, street artists, historic tractors, music, local wines and Crémants.

The Syndicat d'initiative Schengen also issues a new limited edition of its collector's figure, the Schengener Hinnchen, each year; pre-orders taken on its website can be collected at its stand or brought or posted to the buyer.
