my take
Berlioz on this scale needs a big chorus and a big pit, which is exactly what Saarbrücken has and what most of the region does not.
about the event
Berlioz's dramatic legend closes the Saarbrücken music theatre season in the Großes Haus, opening 5 June 2027 at 19:30 with further dates on 11, 16 and 25 June and a 27 June matinee at 14:30. The theatre bills it as one of the rare staged productions of the work. Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau directs and designs the sets and costumes, and music director Sébastien Rouland conducts. Sung in French with German and French surtitles, to a libretto after Goethe's Faust in Gérard de Nerval's translation. Tickets through the theatre's own shop.
