my take
If you want to see the German films that will be talked about all year before they reach a Luxembourg screen, this is where they premiere.
about the event
The main festival for young German-language cinema, showing films by young filmmakers, up to their third feature, from Germany, Luxembourg, Austria and Switzerland across Saarbrücken's cinemas. The 48th edition runs from 25 to 31 January 2027. Film submissions are open until 30 September 2026 for the side sections and 31 October 2026 for the competitions, and the 47th edition counted 36,168 visits. Screenings are ticketed; the programme is published on the festival site closer to the date.
