FAQ

What are the opening hours of the Walfer Bicherdeeg 2026?
Saturday 21 November 2026 from 10:00 to 19:00 and Sunday 22 November from 10:00 to 18:00, on the Stade Prince Henri site in Walferdange (source: bicherdeeg.lu).
How do I get there by public transport?
According to the organiser, bus lines 11 and 111 serve the Gemengeplaz stop, and Walferdange railway station is a 10-minute walk away. Plan your journey on mobiliteit.lu or cfl.lu.
What is the theme of the 2026 edition?
"Oppen Oueren" (Luxembourgish for "open ears"), subtitled "À l'écoute de la littérature" (listening to literature). The organiser presents it as an invitation to open our ears to literature in all its diversity, whether it is read, told or, thanks to new media, listened to.
What is on the programme?
Markets for new and second-hand books, with publishers, institutions and authors in the professional hall; readings that mix music, performance and literature on the outdoor stage; readings at the Maison Dufaing, organised with the Lëtzebuerger Bicherediteuren, where authors appear as a duo or trio and then talk together; and the Café littéraire in hall 2.
Is Caroline Wahl coming to the Walfer Bicherdeeg?
Yes, on the eve of the fair. The Institut Pierre Werner and the Walfer Bicherdeeg invite the German author Caroline Wahl to Luxembourg for the first time: on Friday 20 November 2026 at 19:00, at the Hall omnisports Prince Henri (15, rue des Nations Unies, Walferdange), she presents her new novel "1999 Meter über dem Meer", in German, moderated by Jérôme Jaminet. Tickets: 10 €, 5 € for under-26s, 1.50 € with the Kulturpass, via luxembourg-ticket.lu or by phone on +352 47 08 95 1.
What is there for children?
Books for Kids, in the Centre Prince Henri: a children's and youth book market with about 40 exhibitors on the ground floor and readings in two rooms upstairs, plus staged readings and other literary events on the outdoor stage. Only children's and youth books may be sold in the Books for Kids hall. Each year the organiser also brings authors into the classes of the Walferdange primary school, which has had its own stand at the fair since 2019.
Who organises the Walfer Bicherdeeg?
The commune of Walferdange, which describes the fair as the largest book fair in Luxembourg. The first Journée du livre opened on 8 October 1995 at the Centre Prince Henri. Contact: bicherdeeg@walfer.lu, +352 33 01 44-1.
